Eupraxia Press
About us
Eupraxia Press is an independent micro press, dedicated to publishing poetry that's diverse, challenging and surprising - a multi-coloured patchwork of cultures and writing styles.

Our name derives from Greek mythology where Eupraxia was the personification of wellbeing.
At Eupraxia Press we believe that literature can help to combat the stresses and strains of modern life by calming and re-invigorating the mind.
Our "Bibliotherapy" and "Words for Wellbeing" projects include community "Writing for Wellbeing" workshops, bibliotherapy discussion groups and a "book prescription" service for groups and individuals!

Publishing
Poetry
We publish poetry books, chap books, pamphlets and cards during the year and will post information on the website & social media. We publish a diverse array of styles to suit everyone.
Unfortunately we do not accept unsolicited manuscripts owing to the small staff team! We simply can't keep up with the numbers submitted. We thank you for your interest though!

We look forward to seeing you at festivals and book fairs around Scotland - and our books are also available through the Radical Bookstore, Edinburgh and the Zen bookstore, Glasgow & dozens of independent bookstores - and currently on Amazon. [We will return to our own press as soon as finances allow]
Words for Wellbeing
Workshops for the Community
Our bibliotherapists host workshops throughout the year for our local community, and our online community. Our workshops are suitable for complete beginners or for seasoned professionals! We also hold workshops for specific groups - for example in 2024 we had workshops for adults with dementia, adults with chronic health problems, one for young carers, one for women writers and one for young men. Other groups were multi-generational and open to all. We look forward to welcoming you :)

We meet at the Renfield Centre, Bath Street, Glasgow, & other venues throughout the city. We also meet in Edinburgh, and host our workshops online.

Bibliotherapy
Also called book therapy - from the Greek word "biblio" meaning books and "therapeia" meaning help or cure
Bibliotherapy has a long and distinguished past. The ancient Pharoah, Ramases II, had the inscription "healing place of the soul" above the entrance to his library. Recent research has shown bibliotherapy to support people by helping to restore the human spirit. It can help people cope with life changes, grief, anxiety, depression, dementia and ill health. It can also increase our feelings of happiness and wellbeing. Our Words for Wellbeing bibliotherapy focuses on the positive impact of literature on individuals, families and communities.

As Rudyard Kipling wrote "words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind".

Our bibliotherapy sessions include reading, writing and discussion - and we use fiction, non-fiction, poetry and plays. Please check our social media for more information!

We meet at the Renfield Centre, Bath Street, Glasgow; 50 George Square, Edinburgh; other community spaces throughout the two cities, and online.

Our community bibliotherapists are writers and artists who have trained in counselling, bibliotherapy or arts therapy and have a special interest in the therapeutic use of literature. We follow the BACP ethical framework. Please note we will sign-post clients who need therapeutic or medical assistance to suitable professionals.
